Boring to Beautiful Kitchen Reveal

For our previous home we purchased a foreclosure. It was a great deal and really had the floorplan/ layout that we were wanting. It was very open concept and added more space for kiddos. The only problem? It was pretty outdated, for my style anyways. Everything was this nice hue of reddish pink and blond maple. As soon as we decided that this house was- The One, I immediately took to Pinterest to research how to paint cabinets! I knew I wanted a white kitchen and I was willing to do the work (or make my hubby do the work) to get the look I wanted!

We were DIY/renovation newbies at the time and it took a lot of convincing to get the hubs on board with my crazy plan, he wasn’t so sure about white kitchens, but after some testing we decided we were capable and that we could take this on! Go team, right?! We took one of the doors off the cabinets and tried a few things to it before we decided to paint them white. Or more- before I convinced him that it was the best option. We also decided to paint the island a greige color to help break up the white.

We also hired some friends to replace the tile in the entire house. Bye-bye redish pink color! After the cabinets were all painted we replaced the counters with granite and put in a white subway tile backsplash! The end result gives all the heart eyes!

We added some more modern hardware to really pull it all together. Let me know what you think! I’ll post how we painted our cabinets and the process in a later post!
